Description

Grandfather Hugh Drummond, he enlisted in the Royal Irish Rifles on the 21st July 1908. He served 3 years and 217 days and fought in the Batlle of Mons and Passhendale and lost his arm in the battle. Hugh survived the war and convalessed in the UVF Hospital, but didn't talk about his experiences. After the war he joined the 'Old Contemptibles Association' and got a job as a messenger at Stormont Estate. Hugh married and had five children moving back to the shankil and sadly died in 1950.
