The 1911 Ireland Census has John James living at 62 Boundary Street, Belfast with his mother, father, occupation, Fuel Economiser Erector, two sisters, Elizabeth, 8 years, and Mary Catherine, 7 years. James occupation at this time is given as General Labourer

James John/George joined the Royal Irish Rifles.

He was posted as part of the British Expeditionary Force to France on the 13th August 1914.

James John/George was a Rifleman in 2nd Battalion Royal Irish Rifles when he was Killed In Action at Vailly, France aged 21 years

The relatives of Private James Coulter, 2nd Battalion R.I.R, at 61 Boundary Street, Belfast, have been notified that he was killed at Vailly

James Soldiers Effects were left to his father and mother. On this document George is given as his name, and James John as an alias. S.A.S.H suspects though that John James from an early age was called George after his father, and this then followed him up and into adulthood.

His Will, signed and dated 6th August 1914 left his Property and Effects to his mother.

Dependant Pension Application Forms show his mother as claimant. They also show that she lived at 13 Duffy's Place Belfast

James John/George received the British War Medal, Victory Medal and 1914 Star

He is Remembered at La Ferte-Sous-Jouarre Memorial, France.
